Cold Flu Sore Throat Home Remedy

4 Oct

Well, we’re now on to week three of sick germs and cooties in my home.  Fortunately for me, I’ve accounted for about 50% of the germs.  I keep thinking the worst is over and then I’ll have another bad day.  Yuck.  I’m sick of it.  Here’s the one thing that’s brought me comfort (other than some alone time with my sewing machine).
Ingredients:

Honey

Water

Lemon Juice (fresh squeezed lemon is best)

Ginger

Herbs of choice

A friend gave me some chocolate mint leaves and a lemon something.  Can’t remember.  All I know is, it tasted yummy and I could feel all those herbs and that strong ginger killing all those cooties.

Just mix your ingredients and either microwave it in a mug or if you’re cooking for the whole family, throw it all in a pot.  I add all ingredients to taste.  Sorry, no measurements.

A rough estimate for one cup would be about a cup of water, 2 TBS of lemon juice and 2 TBS of honey.  Heat it up to a temperature that works for you.

Hope you’re feeling good.

Plastic Apple Containers and Lego

22 Aug

This is an old pic, but I still love this idea.  I remember when Costco first starting packing their apples in these large plastic containers.  I knew it was usable, but storing these would be a pain.  I was very glad when I started finding handy ways to use this.  Anyway, I use this for mixing paint when the kids are painting, but I came across this pic tonight. These little compartments were perfect for a lego project my son was working on.  It made finding the pieces he needed a lot easier.  And, when he took a break, he stored the parts that were completed in the center and we put the container on a shelf…safe from the then crawling person.  I’m thinking up some great games for toddlers with this thing.  What can you come up with?

Organization Office Labels

21 Aug labels for home office or homeschool room

I’m working on a new “station” in our home.  I have lots of things to post about it as it progresses.  Tonight, I was working on new labels to help keep us organized.  At first, I was just planning on making one standard label for each item.  But then I got carried away.  This is what I came up with. You can print this to laminate them or turn them in to stickers.  I plan on mod-podging them onto pieces of wood.  If you like them, hopefully I did it right and you can download a printable pdf file by using the link at the bottom.  Wish me luck on this new space!

Chocolate Covered Macadamia Nuts & Picky Eaters

13 Aug

Remember when I talked about my picky eater?  Well, I’ve found another thing that seems to work.
This is packaging from the boxes of Hawaiian Host chocolate covered macadamia nuts.  It’s a good thing I was able to make sure all the chocolate was eaten so that we could use these containers!!!Please pardon the crappy iPhone pics.
